A Creative and Caring School

Pocklington Junior School is a welcoming and inclusive school where children are nurtured to achieve. We celebrate the learning and progress of all our pupils in many ways as we encourage them to grow and develop both academically and personally.

Emotional Literacy Support Assistant ELSA

We are proud to have an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) who plays a key role in helping our pupils with their social, emotional and academic challenges. Our focus is always on providing a warm and caring environment and working with parents/carers and pupils to create a learning space which is not only supportive but feels engaging and safe for the children.

Safeguarding

At Pocklington Junior School we promote a culture of safeguarding where it is everyone’s responsibility to protect our children from harm.

If you need to report a concern

If you have a concern about any of the children in our care, we urge you to contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), no matter how minor you think your concern may be.

Please be assured that any concerns or information given will be treated in the strictest confidence.

We will investigate as necessary with any relevant parties, be this external agencies, staff, parents or other.

School Houses

Our house teams are based on Yorkshire sports people, Nicola Adams (boxer), Bethany Mead (footballer), Kevin Sinfield (rugby) and Alistair Brownlee (triathlete). Each of those chosen have demonstrated commitment to their country and to their passions found in sport. They have not been afraid to be individuals and pursue what they believed in. Without exception each chosen sports person has been respectful – not only during their competitive lives but way beyond. Being the best you can be is something held dear to these Yorkshire people – ambitious, ambitious, ambitious!

Houses: Adams, Mead, Sinfield & Brownlee

Through recognising effort we create a positive learning environment for our pupils’ personal growth and development. We help our learners become confident and independent through the respect and relationships we build between school, parents/carers and our wider community.
