Current Vacancies

Our Current Vacancies are:

Midday Supervisor / Play Leader Role:

3 Days 11.45am -1.15pm- Midday Supervisory Assistant / Play Leader – collect an application form from school.
Closing date Friday 8th July.
An enthusiastic and highly motivated lunchtime supervisor is required to join our hard working and dedicated team to provide high quality experiences for all pupils during lunchtime with a happy, caring and play based environment.  This post is to cover maternity leave from September 2022 until the member of staff returns to work.

We are looking for someone who has good communication and organisational skills and would need to help make the lunchtime experience fun and enjoyable for the children.  The role will involve working with and supporting other members of the lunchtime staff and maintaining high standards for pupil behaviour.

In 2018 we started a project to develop our lunchtime provision working with OPAL (Outdoor play and learning); we therefore go out in all weathers, get muddy, play with big equipment, and have scooters, tyres and all sorts being used on our site. This improvement to lunchtimes led to a reduction in behavioural and first aid incidents, while at the same time greatly increasing the amount of physical activity our pupils engage in and what they have access to.

Due to the impact of the pandemic, we have been unable to utilise fully all aspects of the OPAL system.  However, this is something which we will gradually be reintroducing as we move forwards into this new year.  With this is mind, we are looking for someone who wants to enrich children’s play by overseeing the play-based activities that they are engaged in, evaluating whether any negotiations around how they can play safely need to take place and ensuring that the playground is a happy place to be.  We would love someone to be willing to plan and start games, encouraging those who are less confident to get involved and modelling skills and activities, which children can then do by themselves in the future.

We can offer you a school community of respectful pupils and adults, who all invested in and live out our school values on a daily basis.

Pocklington Community Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All post-holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.
